Brief Bio of Bronwen Erasmus

Bronwen Erasmus is a qualified librarian and graduated from the University of the Western Cape in 2009. She started her library career as a volunteer at the Huguenot Square Public Library in the City of Cape Library and Information Services, from 1996 to 1998. Thereafter, she was appointed as a Library Assistant at the Belhar Public Library in the City of Cape Town Library and Information Services, from 1998 to 2002. In 2002 she commenced her studies and attained a B.Bibl. Degree in 2009. During this time she was appointed as a Librarian at the Bothasig Public Library in the City of Cape Town Library and Information Services, from 2003-2008. After graduating in 2009, she was appointed as a Senior Librarian at the Tafelsig Public Library in the City of Cape Town Library and Information Services from 2009-2010.

Thereafter, she took up the position as Regional Librarian for the Southern Region at the Western Cape Library Service from 2010-2013. In November 2013 she was promoted to Assistant Director: Public Library Enhancement at the Western Cape Library Service. Apart from managing new library building projects and upgrades to existing libraries, she also manages the Rural Library Connectivity Project which provides free internet services to the public outside the Metropole. She works with a team of eight people and together they ensure that people in the most remote areas of the Western Cape Province have free access to the internet and other ICT related services.
